| Question |
I'd like to participate but want to learn more about the mentoring process. How do I get started? |
| Answer |
Check out the Mentoring Process page on the website: www.pgementoring.com
You do not have to have a Mentor or Mentee identified before you can participate. The site will help you connect with others.

| Question |
Will my manager be able to see my Personal Profile on the Mentor Website? |
| Answer |
Yes. If your manager is participating in the program, he/she will be able to see your profile.
If you are participating, it's highly recommended that you let your manager/supervisor know, as this indicates a desire to learn, develop, grow, and gain leadership skills. You can drive your development plans forward by participating in the PG&E Mentoring Program

| Question |
Am I obligated to mentor or be mentored by others if I attend a Mentor Professional Skills or Mentor Tele-Skills training session? |
| Answer |
Attending a Mentor Professional Skills or Mentor Tele-Skills is just one way to participate in the Mentoring Program. Attendance does not obligate you to mentor others or be mentored by others, but you will likely meet others in the process and expand your network. Mentoring happens even in simple conversations. |
| Question |
If I'm participating in the program, will that help my performance review? |
| Answer |
Participation in the Mentoring Program in and of itself will not guarantee an increase in your performance review. However, participation in the program can help you develop your skills and competencies, and this will likely impact your performance which can translate over to an improved performance review. |
| Question |
What will be done with the feedback provided on the Mentor Website? |
| Answer |
The feedback you provide on the Mentor Website ("Feedback" is a link under "About" on the navigation bar) will go only to the Administrators of the Mentoring Program. With your consent we will share it with your Mentor/Mentee; otherwise we merely use it to help us improve the overall program. It will not be shared with HR or your supervisor, and it will not be shared with your Mentor/Mentee's supervisor. Of course, if you don't feel comfortable providing feedback, you do not have to provide it. |
| Question |
I don't live in any of the locations where Mentor Professional Skills sessions are taking place. Will travel to the event be allowed? |
| Answer |
All events can be attended remotely via Genesys. Any travel to an office in which an event is being held must be approved by your supervisor. |
| Question |
What if we have questions about the Mentor website or our mentoring relationship at any time along the way? Whom should we ask? |
| Answer |
You can always use the "Help/Contact" link on the Mentor Website navigation bar to submit your questions, comments, and suggestions. |
| Question |
Will the conversations with my Mentor be kept confidential? |
| Answer |
When you agree to have a mentoring relationship, we encourage you and your Mentor/Mentee to sign an agreement with each other that includes respecting the confidentiality of the relationship. Of course, if any conversation indicates future harm to you, your Mentor/Mentee, or the company, there is an obligation to notify HR immediately. |
| Question |
I'm currently working with a Mentor. Do we need to register our mentoring relationship on the Mentor Website? |
| Answer |
No, but if you do, you will receive weekly progression emails to structure and guide that relationship event better. In addition, we will be able to track your relationship and mentoring hours (if you report it) which may assist you in your performance review.
Also, you and your mentor may find it useful to explore the Mentor Website at www.pgementoring.com for additional tools and resources, tips and guidance to make your relationship even more effective. The website also includes information about valuable skills sessions that can be attended in person or remotely.
